In the midst of turkey and pie, music memories came up and allowed for some lively and lovely conversation and remembering around the Thanksgiving table.
Question: What was your earliest music memory?
Maddie: Going to a "surprise" with mom & dad only to find out it was an Alabama concert. She was not impressed.
Emma: Running around the coffee table to Amy Grant songs with Maddie (video evidence above!) and singing to Les Miserable while her barbies performed various numbers .....
Joe: Laying on his dad's back, as dad did push ups while the "Take On Me" music video played on TV (and if you have never seen this video by a-ha - it's pretty awesome!)
Bob: Our Slovak gramma or great gramma singing in Slovak while holding him or looking down at him - more on this below ....
Jim: Going to his cousin's home , hearing Sons of the Pioneers / Chad & Jeremy music play on their record player.
Becky: Playing in the church pews and drawing on the attendance cards while mom practiced the organ for Sunday services at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
Danny: His parents playing the album A Hard Days Night by The Beatles
Michelle: Spreading butter on the speaker cover of the Zenith stereo cabinet - she vividly remembers the oozing of butter in the little tiny diamond shaped holes .... LOL
Joan: Mom helped us remember the Slovak words to the #1 hit that gramma probably sang to all of us: Hinta, Polinta, Matchska Spadla, Spoida (sung to the tune of Seesaw, Up & Down, I can see all over town) We tried to enlist the help of google to translate english to slovak, but apparently, google does NOT speak the same Slovak of my ancestors.
Make those memories with your families .... but maybe omit the butter.
