Once upon a time ….. There was a girl who loved the beach.
She grew up beneath warm sunshine and a palm tree. She loved to dance, throw a frisbee and spend endless days in sand and surf. Even though she loved the sun, there were sweet family trips to the mountains where she had her first glimpse of snow and evergreens. There was something warm about those trips to the mountain ….. And she longed for the mountains to be part of her beach heart one day.
Once upon a time …. There was a guy who loved the mountains.
Once upon a time …. There was a guy who loved the mountains.
He grew up beneath misty rain clouds and fir trees. He loved to hunt, throw a ball and spend endless days with a beebee gun. Even though he loved the mountain air , there was a brief time to live at the coast where he had his first tease of saltwater and tide pools. There was something special about that time at the ocean. And he longed for the beach to be part of his mountain heart one day.
Then one day, the beach girl and the mountain guy met in the valley. She taught him to love avocados, to appreciate BIG family gatherings, and that tickling her feet would NEVER be tolerated. He taught her to love mushrooms, to appreciate vintage things, and that a foot rub was NOT tickling in any way. The mountain guy and the beach girl decided life in the Valley together would be just the right fit.

All of a sudden, 25 married years have flown by. These years have taken them to mountain top moments - including growing a family that makes their life happy and complete. These years have also had turbulent waves of worry - including the loss of loved ones so dear. But God has always been near. Everyday. Every hour. Every moment.
For many more summers, they plan to watch for the perfect beach afternoons where she will sink her toes in the sand and he will sit in a shady chair. For many more falls he will tromp up to the mountains with his rifle while she waits at the home where her little palm tree grows. They will continue to ride out the waves of life and enjoy mountain top moments as God wills it to be. And they will dance in their kitchen and partake in lovely foot rubs.
