Canby town USA is NOT the hotspot for snow. Or maybe it is, and that’s the problem! Every winter, we are teased with the forecast of snow and 99.9% of the time the result is either …

A. Canby gets a continual misting of rain while all surrounding areas get a lovely layer of white pristine snow that taunts us from the constant barage of local weather reports on EVERY news station or …
B. Every weather forecast prior to the anticipated snow event shows "improvement" and our snow day is eventually reduced to a normal Pacific NW rain pattern …… UGH!

Anybody who knows me is well aware how cranky I am to be jilted out of my snow.

This winter, instead of waiting for the snow to come to us, we went to the snow instead. So for my first blog of the new year I present ….

The Proper Steps to Enjoy Snow in Canby town USA

Step One ….

First find a mountain that is an easy drive from Canby town.

Step Two

Pack all the necessary equipment, including a pair of cool mirrored sunglasses. These will come in handy during bouts of crying due to highly embarrassing wipeouts.

Step Three and Four

Purchase this very expensive accessory for your jacket zipper pull and proceed to the tube selection area to choose a perfectly inflated snow tube from a variety of colors and seating arrangements.

Step Five

Ride the tow rope up and be sure to give the tow rope attendant the stink-eye when he yanks your tube out from under you while you are just about to sit in it. AHEM!

Step Six

At the direction of the starter, throw your body onto your tube and careen down the hill in your snow lane. Be sure to NOT be offended if the younger crowd flies by you with glee. (This is where previous mentioned sunglasses may come in handy.)

Please note that it helps to tightly squeeze your eyes shut and hold on tightly to the side ropes as you tube as demonstrated below.

Step Seven

Be sure to stop the snow frolicking long enough to make at least one snow angel before you leave.

For now, I will commence with longing for snow outside my front door. However, I can be thankful that I live just more than an hour from the snow laden mountain we can see from our street.
