Adventures between Strawberries and Diamonds '08
Summer started with Strawberries. The berry box was exploding with all kinds of berry goodness when we set out for our Summer ‘08 adventures.
Adventure #1: Camping at “The Cove” with our favorite friends who flew all the way from Wisconsin.
Adventure Intermission: Tatoos! - My dear friend Deb and I made good on a pact we made - right on our feet!
Adventure #2: Two week roadtrip to California to see my best friend Sandra FINALLY get married. Finally!!!!!
Highlights ….
Emma’s banana pancakes with peanut butter and maple syrup eaten in the great outdoors with camp coffee
Maddie, Emma, Brynn, and Char’s hike to the top of the bluffs at sunset
18 cup holders in our rented Toyota Sienna to hold Starbucks drinks, sodas, and sandy bottles of sunscreen
Susie’s fabulously smelling foaming hand soaps and John’s salt water fish tank
Marcus’ salsa
Standing in Whiskeytown Lake again even if firefighting helicopters were dipping their buckets there
Disneyland for a day - old rides and new ones - Thank goodness for the fast pass!!!
Uncle Bob’s School of Surfing
An Angels game at Anaheim stadium with hotdogs, peanuts, and red vines!
Vic’s Carne Asada - such yummyness
Uncle Dan’s talking GPS even though it sounded annoyed that Jim missed a turn
Dancing to “Lady‘s Night”, “Freak Out”, “Jump” and many others at Sandra and Mark’s wedding
Connecting with cousins who we can’t see very often and watching the next generation begin connections
Joe’s 9th birthday at Medieval Times
Cousin Kayla getting diamonds on her left hand - to be continued in the Spring
Lowlights ….
Gas prices as high as $4.59 a gallon and 2,400 miles of driving - ouch!
Two $8 watermelons succumbing to gravity with a splat
Emma’s surfing biff on the rocks at San Onofre Beach
Finding my childhood palm tree was no more …. Chopped down in May because it was too tall.
Saying goodbye
But ….. Summer isn’t over …. Here’s to more adventures to come and more success with watermelons!

Wow Becky ... nice pictures! We'll all have to go to Whiskeytown lake sometime! I'm sure it's a summer you'll never forget!
Love your tatoo! I am soooo jealous! Did it hurt? :)
Hey- Becky! Were those strawberries from your garden??? (We had a mother and baby raccoon eat most of ours this summer-)
Love the tattoo of the palm on your foot-- But, did you consider a palm on your palm? Only kidding- Yours looks very classy and perfect for summer sandals! Did it hurt?
Is summer really almost over? Looks like you all had a great summer! See you soon at BCP :)
