The Daddy in this house

This is my favorite picture of Jim and Em. Partly because Jim is with some of his favorite things - his coffee, the "wild" outdoors (ok, so it was a State Park, not exactly "wild"), looking down at the adoring face of one of his own. But, mostly because of the look on Emma's face (which is difficult to see on this post). She says she can't remember what they talked about that morning on that rock, but she does remember that she had stomped off mad (oh, really??? Emma, MAD?????), and Jim must have followed her to smoothe out the wrinkles. It appears to have worked, because her face is lit with nothing but a smile.
Other things that dad does to make us smile -
fixing LOTS of things, like cars, screen doors, dryer doors, plugged sinks
building things like fences, decks, closets, shelves, and lego cities
baking things (yes, BAKING!) like cookies and the BEST apple pies
making things like coffee at 4:30 every morning to share with the mommy in the house
